My top three beers at the moment:

Malheur 10 golden:

This beers name means “misfortune.”  This beer is 10 percent in alcohol content. It’s quite a fruity beer. Malheur is very appetizing, and has a great flowery taste. If you are still on basic belgian beers aka Blue Moon, then you must try this.

Rogue: Dead Guy Ale:

This is a German Maibock beer. Deep honey in color, with a malty aroma. This beer just has a great taste. Personally I find it the most attractive taste out of the Rogue Ales, and Rogue always has cool names and bottles, so that’s a plus.  

Leffe:

This is a monk beer. It’s considered an Abbey beer. It’s a premium Ale, just great refreshing taste.  A kind of a beer that has become very popular in Belgium where it originated. The abbey where the beer was originally brewed was flooded and attacked and all kinds of cool stuff. That makes the beer hardcore. It was bought out by a few different places but today is brewed by Stella Artois brewery (If you’ve never had a Stella, get to your nearest bar asap).

So the freaking ep is finally out for all you diehard fans. Most of you know i don’t really like to download at all. I only have CDs. So with this ep not going on sale i’m slightly disheartened. But you can go listen to it on their myspace. Definitely go check it out. It’s good stuff. The new album is coming out the beginning of next year. Ursa Major. Then right after that is their second new release Ursa Minor, this is a compilation of all the things not making it on the new album. I think the best song so far is NonDairy Creamer, or if your lucky find a leaked version of Persephone. 

While on the subject. I will rant and say that I am really mad at third eye blind. I’ve been a fan all my life. First cd ever in third grade, and since has been my favorite band. Granted i have seen them before, but, they never ever come to Louisiana. So of course, the one time i go out of town, they come. I am very jealous of everyone going to watch my band at Tulane University on the 21st. You all suck.

And lastly, my favorite story ever. I was at a 3eb show in Virginia at the Toads Place last year. I was on the front row with some very nice looking females that i met. Yeah good story already right? So i’m chilling there and they were on this long bridge of a song, and I yell out “Stephan Jenkins, your my  hero!”, and no kidding the dude looks at me and goes….”NO! Your my fucking hero!!”….. yeah tell that to the grandkids.

Sometimes you just gotta know people….

Sharon Jones. And the freaking dap kings. Incredible.

I saw Sharon Jones this year at Voodoo Fest. She put on an amazing show. Absolutely phenomenal. She in very energetic. She dances really awesome. She is a soul singer with incredible talent. In my book she revels the great Tina Turner herself. I recently purchased her album thinking it wouldn’t quite meet up to par with the live performance. Wow. I was wrong. Go and check her and the boys out.

So, we have a new president of the United States. I have to say he ran one hell of a campaign. That mans got a great election staff behind him. And i think that America made it clear who they wanted as president. 

I think Louisiana made it clear we didn’t so much want him as a state, but i realize there are just a few more states besides us in this country. I will say too that i’m very impressed with what a wide demographic it was that voted for him. I figured for sure he had the black demographic for the most part. I also realized that due to the liberal media and uneducated young culture that he for sure had almost all of the kids my age. But i will say i was very impressed when i saw states that mass produce coal, and middle class business men voting for him. I would have never thought these demographics would be voting for the man.

I think the man is a little hyped up as far as all the bad things he supposedly will do. Still don’t really like the guy, but hey i didn’t like JM much either. I will say though if he goes crazy i never voted for him.

For all your Louisianians I am upset about Mary Landrieu being re-elected. I don’t so much like her. I think she is very corrupt and makes plenty of bad decisions. I also don’t understand her way of running. She claims to be an independent who makes her own choices and doesn’t vote with her party….but she’s supported by the democrats. They even pay for the commercial that says that she doesn’t vote with them. Freaking weird.

Anyway, my boss made a good point and it was what i was thinking when he was elected president. We need to respect the man. For one he’s our president and that’s not gonna change for four years so get used to it. And to my Christian brothers and sisters, the Bible calls us to respect our authorities. Also i think we need to continue to be in prayer for Barack Obama and our country.

Everyone who didn’t go to party on halloween you missed my sweet costume. I went as David Bowie from labyrinth. It was freaking sweet.

Just had a friend at work that made a cool point. Thought I’d share.

We were talking about how to build up others, and how through Christ we can have the strength to be positive even in negative situations. Such as someone gives you a negative comment like “You have a really ugly shirt”, and then you turn around and say “Really? I was on the fence about whether or not i liked it too, you always have a great sense of style.”

So with that conversation going he made a really cool point that i just sort of pondered on throughout the rest of the day. 

-All things were originally created perfect and good. God made everything this way. He made everything that is on the earth. On that note, Satan, he didn’t create any of it. It was all made by God. The evil comes when Satan takes something that is perfectly created by God and he perverts it. This is where we find sin, evil, hurt, lies, etc. God didn’t allow satan to make his own animals or plants. They were all designed by Him, including us.

I thought that was a neat outlook. So deep beneath all of the ugly in the earth is something beautiful that God created. Go out and find it, and share it with your world.

I just wanna say that I have been trying this week to be a more humble person as Christ was.

I just wanna say that I’m honored that 5 blogs have spawned off of mine.

I just wanna say that I’m human and will probably not be humble, and I’ll make a bad blog.

I just wanna say Ham Sandwiches are awesome when they’re made with good ham and love.

Real quick political plug I came up with in my head a few hours ago.

-If hypothetically you were the owner of a Daycare program for kids. (Probably on my brain cause i work at one, bare with me..) Ok so your the owner of it and your looking at two new employees. You’ve been trying to get an employee for a while now and are at your wits end and you just have these two people. You don’t really like either one but you have to hire one of them. So, not liking either of them you start to look at their negative character traits. You soon find out that one of them has at least a few years experience (mr. pink). You find out the other one has only worked at a daycare for a week before yours(mr. orange). You then find out that Mr. Orange has been accused of molesting children. Ok times up, you have no more time to research. Who are you gonna put in your position? But wait….you don’t know that Mr. Orange molested children….?

Please don’t put Obama in office. CHANGE is not always a good thing.

I think as Christians we forget who God is. Just how powerful is God? Look at the things he has done in the Bible. Read the stories of the miracles He’s performed. Look at the destruction he can bring. Look at the healing He can bring. Look how He brings powerful people and their nations quickly to their knees. 

God wants to be respected. He was us to be humble in His presence. He wants us to fear Him. 

-In my opinion this is to have a deep reverence toward the power that God has.

Childlike Faith. I think this can play a good example for the fear of God. Think of a healthy relationship between a father and son. The fathers word is final. The son knows he has a greater knowledge and strength. The son also knows the father has the sons best interest at heart. 

I challenge my Christian friends to take time today and remember the Awesome power of our Heavenly Father. Pray for His protection and guidance as you go through the week.

Alright. So for those of you who live in the Baton Rouge area I’m staring a new small group. It will be musically oriented. 

The first one will be free, and the following will probably have a small fee.

The plans have not been finalized and it’s still in the works, i will let you know when the first one is planned. 

The whole idea behind it is to review new and upcoming albums. 

The albums will probably be voted on. I will purchase the album. We’ll meet up as a group. Pass out copies of lyrics and album artwork. 

We’ll sit around and listen to the cd on a very nice sound system, during the playing of the album there will be silence besides the CD. Each member will have a sheet of paper to make notes reviewing the album. At the end of the CD we will put our ideas together and discuss the album. The results will be posted on a collective blog. 

I have a few other ideas as to how to spice it up. We may also have some digital effects going, or a slide show pertaining to the album.

Also, I have started to arrange to have local artists sit in on the listening and begin with a blank canvas and paint their idea of the album.

There will of course be refreshments and things of that nature.
